In the precedent article “The Practice of Assertiveness in the Workplace: The Main Attitudes Towards Conflicts”, we were introduced to four standard ways of reacting to situations of disagreement and tension.
The attached document, taken from the book Assertiveness (D. Chavin, Editions ESF, 1981), allows you to perform a “self-assessment” of your attitude in situations of conflicts (Questionnaire). The final graph reflects your tendency to adopt each one of these attitudes.
This can help us realize that we don’t always react in the same way when faced with a difficult situation. However, we certainly display some tendencies, the understanding of which can help us get closer to a more harmonious way of dealing with conflicts.
Important notice: this questionnaire aims to help you gain awareness of some personal tendencies. In no way does it offer an absolute and final assessment of your behavioral skills!
The article “Conflict Management: Applicable Communication Techniques” introduces some ideas that may help in developing your capacity to address conflicts in a more relaxed and confident way.
