How is this presentation going to help them?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>IDENTIFY YOUR AUDIENCE\u2019S &#8220;CAPACITY OF ABSORPTION&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After answering all these questions and identifying your public\u2019s interests, you will have to try and determine 1) the\u00a0<em>form your expos\u00e9 will have to take<\/em>\u00a0in order to reach out to them, and 2) the\u00a0<em>amount of information<\/em>\u00a0they will be able to take in. This may be done by asking yourself the following questions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>What are the attendance\u2019s qualifications? What is their level of knowledge or educational background?<\/li>\n<li>Are they already tired, overwhelmed and fed-up, or are they looking forward to hearing what you have to say?<\/li>\n<li>Is the presentation going to take place during the day or at night?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>All this analysis will be aimed at answering the questions &#8220;How much information will they be able to absorb?&#8221; and &#8220;How can I best convey it to them?&#8221;.<\/strong>\u00a0Obviously, a presentation to children would look very different from a presentation to a group of scientists.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Moreover, the timing of the presentation will be of critical importance.<\/strong>\u00a0Indeed, presenting in front of an audience late in the day, especially after hours of other presentations, can clearly be very difficult. In this case, some modifications should definitely be applied to the presentation, in order to make it more interesting for the audience.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>CONCLUSION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>As a conclusion, you should always take a little time to analyze your audience\u2019s key characteristics when preparing a presentation.<\/strong>\u00a0It does not matter whether there are few people or hundreds listening, nor whether the public is already familiar with you or you are completely new to them.
