Assess the realism of your project’s deadlines

Through the use of project management, the management of deadlines naturally ensues from the implementation of the MPC process (illustration).

It should however be noted that the required resources and skills – as well as the yield (in terms of profitability, productivity, impact on the organization, etc.) – are not managed in the same way depending on the phase of the activity life-cycle (illustration) you find yourself in.

Finally, one should note that the duration of these diverse phases depend on the nature of the activity, product or company in question. This cycle may be much shorter, for example, in some rapidly evolving sectors such as ITs. This is why identical job titles (example) can hide very different realities in terms of the employer’s expectations…

SELF-COACHING

This self-coaching sheet (exercises) aims to help you assess the realism of your project’s deadlines and identify the resources that would be required in order to deal with them with greater serenity.

These exercises are taken from chapter 15 of the book “Management by Coaching: Coping with Complexity in a Changing World”.
